The stone crafted walls leapt high into the sky,
nearly to heaven, I suppose.
Which makes them quite impressive, I suppose.
How does one ascend to the heavens?
There are options:
a ladder, a chariot,
a tower, a hill.
Try what you can,
use what you have,
to each their own, I suppose.
And these castled walls before me
are an option too
if you’ve money
and time and stained glass and stone.
Well done, well done!
Downright biblical and buttoned up
and stretching high into the sky.
…
The earth cries, let us also give a try
to build a castle to the sky.
It will take time but keep your money
and watch the saplings grow.
Not on map
or tourist guide
lie cultivated wild places
tucked in amongst
the world.
Caverns of expectant voices,
slow and late to gather,
make their climb
up towards the heavens
creating shade and shelter.
I suppose such cathedrals
will never gain the currency
of these other towers
at the crossroads of the world.
Yet creatures gather
in the spires
and find their way
high up to the sky.
