Out the window
of my little
prayer room
I can see
a mountain.
A Himalayan
peak.
But I’m
not sure
how to get there
from here.
And it would
mean leaving
this place
and lots of walking
to get there.
And the dogs
will bark
and my feet
will ache
and I will
probably
find myself lost
on occasion.
And actually
anyway
the peak is
covered in
cloud as
I look
right now.
Maybe I’ll
just stay put
and rest
and pray
again today.
But I know
that peak
has a name.
And I watched
it from a distance
yesterday.
And I’ll wake
to watch it again
tomorrow.
If I don’t
leave soon
I may never
arrive.
Or, at least,
never know.
